City Spotlight: White Bear Lake & Mahtomedi, MN

Welcome SSM properties to the cities of White Bear Lake and Mahtomedi. White Bear Lake and Mahtomedi are Northern suburbs of St. Paul. Both
of these cities have plentiful small-town charm while maintaining a close distance to the city.

Although White Bear Lake is much bigger than Mahtomedi, it too feels small. It was ranked the Best Minnesota Town in 2018 by Minnesota Monthly. Residents can enjoy the ease of small town living while still being able to take advantage of its many shops, restaurants and bars. The star of this city is the lake itself. White Bear Lake has “lake culture” down to a science. With boat rentals, waterside restaurants, live music, water sports and marinas, the fun never ends.

White Bear Lake is located along major highways 61 and 96, as well as interstates 35E and 694, making it a commuter’s dream. There are three major corporations in the city: Smarte Carte, International Paper and Magnepan.

Mahtomedi is known as a “small town city”. It sits on the Eastern side of White Bear Lake, and it’s only 15 miles Northeast of St. Paul.

Although it’s a quiet, quaint place, Mahtomedi school district remains highly sought-after. It’s currently ranked the top school district in Washington County. With nature all around, there are plenty of beaches, paths and trails to unwind.

Although Tally’s Dockside and CG Hooks BBQ is a full service marina, they also have a bar, great food and live music.
