Celebrate Summer in the Twin Cities!

Summer in the Twin Cities isn’t just about warmer weather, longer days, and lots of lake time. The coming months are also a time of limitless opportunities to explore and enjoy the metro area!

As the flowers continue to grow and streets begin to bustle in the coming weeks, events and activities are popping up all over the Twin Cities. We’ve put together a guide of summer experiences you won’t want to miss.

 

Visit the Como Zoo

Explore Science Museum

The Science Museum of Minnesota is sure to bring hours of fun for people of all ages! The engaging and interactive museum is located right on the Mississippi River in the heart of the Twin Cities. There are countless displays to explore, and the museum’s amazing Omnitheater offers a wide array of films that are as riveting as the exhibits.

 

Sample Craft Beer

There’s nothing like a nice cold craft beer on a warm summer day! All who are 21 and older have their pick of hundreds of breweries across Minneapolis and St. Paul. Perhaps the most well-known of them all is Summit Brewing, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this summer!

Ride a Bike

Whether you’re interested in exercise or sightseeing, summer is the perfect time to reap the benefits of living in one of the most bike-friendly cities in the United States! If you don’t own a bike, or if you want to take a spontaneous ride on your lunch break, Nice Ride bicycles are placed all over the Twin Cities for rental. Mill City Farmers Market

The Farmer’s Market in Minneapolis is officially open for the summer and it is a must-see! As if the delicious fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and eggs aren’t reason enough to attend, all kinds of flowers, soaps, and ornamentals are available for purchase as well. There are over 60 local farmers and artisans on-site every Saturday morning ready to sell their handmade and locally grown products, rain or shine.

Find a Festival

Tour the Minnesota State Fair

The Great Minnesota Get-Together will take place from August 23–September 3, 2018. It is one of the most well-attended state fairs in the country, drawing over 1.9 million guests every year! From agriculture to art to industry, fairgoers can expect Minnesota’s best to be on display. Perhaps even more beloved than the attractions, however, is the food, Everything from Pronto Pups to spaghetti and meatballs to deep-fried fruit to tater tot hot dish can be found at the fair— all on a stick!
